  2. Subject. Object. Aim. The object is an oxymoron in scientific and entertaining articles, journalistic style, its stylistic features. The subject is the oxymoron functions and its translation methods, depending on the predefined functions. The aim is to determine the relationship between functions and methods Oxymoron translation into English.

  3. Relevance. Only the last decade; A notion of a belletristic style, although it is used in others as well; Oxymoron translation =/= idiom translation – there are differences.

  4. Etimology. Sharp + Dull = ? Keen + Stupid = ? OXYMORON! ‘Moron’ is not just an offensive word. It’s Ancient Greek.

  5. Author's oxymoron. The palette is diverse and multifaceted, and a twofaced, sleazy, beautiful freak Turturro keeps changing.

  6. Stencil oxymoron. We assume that the voting was conducted using the "dead souls" because the list is very old and not refined.

  7. Abraded oxymoron. It’s awfully curious for me to experiment and combine in one form dry documents, documentary evidence, the folk poetry – black folk humor.

Equivalent. мертві душі= dead souls Побутують чутки, народні депутати від Батьківщини, перебуваючи на посадах польових командирів майдану, спритно приписують мертві душі в списки на оплату за участь у революції. People's deputies break into the TV company, take its director by the throat, and convince that pro-russian foe with friendly threats to write an application to retirement.

  11. Analogue. живий труп=living dead У Криму живе чоловік, якого називають живим трупом. A Crimean, who is known as a living dead.

  12. Descriptive translation. біла ворона =outsider Маріуполь: біла ворона бунтівного Південного Сходу Mariupol: an of the rebellious South East

  13. Research results.

  14. Conclusion. Oxymoronis a separate phenomenon and it requires individual research. The main criteria for the oxymoron translation are expressiveness, imagery andcontext. In fact, the function is not really a criteria, as the research showed that the translation methods may vary for oxymorons of any function.
