Who are the IELTS Stakeholders ? • UK and Ireland focus – global stakeholders/events managed in regionEducation – HE, FE institutions (500), schools, agents • Professional Regulatory Bodies – Health (GMC etc), Legal • Immigration – UKBA, Canadians, New Zealand, Australia • Partners – Cambridge/IDP/BC (Customer Services) • Test Centres in UK – seminars/ new test centres

Why have a Stakeholder Team? • IELTS is growing – greater o’seas mobility, use extended to immigration • Environment is more complex (UKBA) = higher stakes • New competitors in Pearson and Cambridge • Reassurance – relevant, trusted and quality • Protect market, develop new business • Re-connect, manage churn and counter aggressive competitors Android 1.5 or later Market/IELTS Word Power

What does the Stakeholder team do? • Seminars across the UK – 12 per year across the UK - on average 30 stakeholders at each event - Cambridge ELA participate through CEFR/Reliability presentations • Wrap around visits to HEIs with F2F visits • Events attended – 9 in the last year e.g. UKNARIC, UCAS, UKCISA • Quarterly Newsletter reaches 2300 UK contacts - • Verifications – 100 per month + growing • Work with BCCS on improving IELTS enquiry handling • Support investigations work

Verifications – www.ielts.org/trf • Available to ROs once they sign up • 74% of ROs use it; 92% find it high value • gives reasurrance to ROs of TRF authenticity • Free, simple, online and quick • Accesses the Cambridge database • Message is to encourage more use • TC role to support the verifications officer • & to direct Ros to Verifications Service • Numbers @ 100 per month and rising

  8. Test Centres and Seminars • Opportunities to meet local feeder institutions • Networking • Learning more about IELTS • Helping out on the Q and A panel • Why not give a presentation? • “A candidate’s test day experience” • Offers?

  9. How is IELTS viewed by stakeholders? Stakeholders are under pressure from other SELTs Perception that IELTS is static (and the 13 day “delay”) Chinese students - gap between their TRF score and their productive ability

IELTS and the Competition • Stakeholders are reporting that they are coming under pressure to include new SELTs as entry requirements. • What do you see from test centres? • What are the product features which drive customers to IELTS, Pearson Test of English and Cambridge Advanced? • Discuss and feedback on flip charts – thank you!
