  6. National anthem is the song called Amhrán na bhFiann ( The Soldier Song in English ). 1.We'll sing a song, a soldier's song,With cheering rousing chorus,As round our blazing fires we throng,The starry heavens o'er us;Impatient for the coming fight,And as we wait the morning's light,Here in the silence of the night,We'll chant a soldier's song. Chorus:Soldiers are wewhose lives are pledged to Ireland; Some have comefrom a land beyond the wave.Sworn to be free,No more our ancient sire landShall shelter the despot or the slave.Tonight we man the gap of dangerIn Erin's cause, come woe or weal'Mid cannons' roar and rifles peal,We'll chant a soldier's song. 2.In valley green, on towering crag,Our fathers fought before us,And conquered 'neath the same old flagThat's proudly floating o'er us.We're children of a fighting race,That never yet has known disgrace,And as we march, the foe to face,We'll chant a soldier's song.

  7. On March 17th, St. Patrick’s Day is celebrated in Dublin and all over the world. According to legend, St. Patrick used the three Leaves to explain the Holy Trinity. Although he is the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick was born in England.

  9. Dublin is home to the Guinness factory… …the largest stout brewery in the world. The factory spans over 60 acres. In 1759, Arthur Guinness signed a 9000 year Lease for the brewery site. The Irish consume an average 131.1 Liters of beer per year.

  11. Leprecháun – Irish Elf A leprechaun (Irish: leipreachán) is a type of fairy in Irish folklore, usually taking the form of an old man, clad in a red or green coat, who enjoys partaking in mischief. Like other fairy creatures, leprechauns have been linked to the Tuatha Dé Danann of Irish mythology. The leprechauns spend all their time busily making shoes, and store away all their coins in a hidden pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. If ever captured by a human, the leprechaun has the magical power to grant three wishes in exchange for their release. Popular depiction shows the leprechaun as being no taller than a small child, with a beard and hat, although they may originally have been perceived as the tallest of the mound-dwellers (the Tuatha Dé Danann).

  12. Clonmacnoise, Ireland One of the first places our bus tour stopped was at the old monastery at Clonmacnoise, in the middle of Ireland, on the banks of the mighty Shannon river. It was founded in 545 AD, although the stone buildings are from the 10th – 12th centuries. It is starting to show its age a little bit.
