Reading Comprehension • קראו את העלון. ענו על השאלות שלאחריה • Read the brochure and answer the questions The Gasparilla Pirate Festival Where the fun never ends WHEN: The last weekend in January WHERE: Tampa, Florida What: The Water Event A "pirate” ship sails into Tampa Bay. It is called the Jose Gasparilla, after a famous pirate who sailed the waters around Florida 200 years ago. Pirates come from the sea to try to capture the city. It's exciting! You can watch or join the sea fight.

  4. The Pirate Parade After the sea fight, come and see the captain and 700 pirates walk into the city. Many different groups take part in the parade in the city center. You can hear the music of the different bands. Join the thousands of children and adults wearing pirate clothes and dancing in the streets. The Air Event Come and watch the most amazing airplanes you will ever see. Enjoy watching as they fly through the sky. Don't forget to stay for the night so you can see the fireworks.

  5. HOW IT ALL BEGAN: In 1904, forty people wearing pirate clothes came in on horses and "captured" the city. Everyone was surprised and had lots of fun. Every year, 400,000 people come to take part in the Gasparilla Pirate Festival. This year, come to Tampa and take part in this exciting event.   9. Sack It To You! Joshua Marcus lives in Boca Raton, Florida. The students at his school had to do volunteer work. So Joshua visited some children in poor neighbourhoods near his home. He saw that the kids didn't have schoolbags or school supplies – pencils, paper, pens or notebooks. Joshua went home and wrote letters to friends, family and other people. He asked them for money to buy these supplies. In 1997, Joshua started "Sack It To You!" – a project that helps poor kids. With the $7,600 that people gave him, he went shopping. He bought schoolbags and supplies that the kids needed. The kids were very happy to get their new schoolbags. In only ten years Joshua gave out more than 10,000 new schoolbags. Joshua said, "I wanted each child to feel special and to have a better start in life."
