  1. Warm up: solve for x and y 5x - 12 4x + 3 15y + 3

  2. 1.5 Angle Addition and Angle Bisectors • SBWAT use angle pair relationships to find angle measures. • Singleton • Geometry • 2012-2013

  3. Angle Addition Postulate • When there are two or more adjacent angles the angles can be added to find the total angle. • When a total angle measure is given,we can subtract the given angle from the total.

  4. <BCD = 142° and <ACD = 63° find m<BCA If <BCD = 123° <ACD = 2x - 1°and <BCA = 7x - 2 solve for x and find m<BCA. Examples of angle addition A D C B

  5. Angle bisector • When both angles are congruent. The angles will be congruent

  6. <BCD = 132° find m<BCA <ACD = 3x + 41° and <BCA = 7x - 11 solve for x and find m<BCA. <BCD = 9x + 5 and <ACD = 5x - 3 solve for x and find m<BCD and m<ACB Examples of Angle Bisector given AC is the angle bisector of <BCD A D C B

  7. Vertical angles • Vertical angles are when 2 lines intersect at a given point(vertex) and they are opposite of each other. Vertical angles are ALWAYS Congruent (equal).
