  4. What was the first country to undergo industrialization? What did they have? Great Britain Natural resources: iron, coal, water Large population of people for labor Rivers & harbors for transportation & boats Good banking systems provided loans Stable gov’t (encouraged business)
  5. What effect would the following have? Overcrowded housing & poor living conditions Pollution Streets full of waste & unclean water Spread of Disease

  26. What was the first major battle of WWI? Why was it so important? First Battle of the Marne, it ruined the Schlieffen Plan & showed Germany they would have to fight a 2 front war
  27. Why did most of the fighting on the Western Front take place in such a small area? Trench warfare made it difficult for armies to gain any ground

  34. Why did the U.S. reject the League of Nations? The U.S. did not want to get dragged into future European problems/wars
