  1. How archery uses the body systems

  2. SKELETAL SYSTEM • Being more flexible helps one draw back arrows • Aerobic fitness also helps while doing archery

  3. Muscular System • Many muscles are used for archery The amount of muscular force depends on the bow’s draw weight. This is how much force you must apply to the bow string for it to draw back. Also, the type of bow you use affects the draw weight (i.e. recurve bows typically are easier to shoot). I usually shoot with a part compound part recurve bow

  4. Circulatory/cardiovascular system • A lower heart rate steadies your aim Many archers do other activities such as kickboxing , trail running, and swimming to lower their heart rates • Archery helps increase your body’s ability to produce ATP (adenosine triphosphate) • Increases hemoglobin levels • Archery also increases your stroke volume (stroke volume is the amount of blood pumped out of your heart in a single beat) • Archery increases your blood’s oxygen carrying capacity

  5. Respiratory system • The respiratory system helps with the production of ATP

  6. Nervous system • The ability to control your heart rate is key • Need to have a lot of focus and concentration

  7. Digestive system • Since archery doesn’t directly use the digestive system or benefit it in any way, I listed some foods that would help an archer • Any kind of food that helps muscular development • Foods that are high in calcium for stronger bones • Foods that boost your energey because even though it may not seem like it, archery uses a lot of energy

  8. Excretory system • Because of the supposed ‘adrenaline’ and ‘pressure’ while shooting, archers sweat a lot

  9. Immune system
