Membership Numbers Recap • Individual ↓2.3% • Student Individual↑29% • Retired Individual ↑ 10% • Life Individual ↑ 6.7% By type of member: • Public Agency groups • ↓ 2.8% • ↓ 4.2% rostered members • Corporate groups • ↓ 2.1% • ↑ 3.4% rostered members • Student groups • ↓ 38% • ↓ 29% rostered members • One-Call Center groups • No change

  4. Membership Numbers Recap Canadian Membership: • ↑ 4.2% • Canadian members now represent 7.26% of total APWA membership

  5. Membership Retention • 84.56% of our members renewed • 2008 - 67.1% of the 1st Time Member campaign recruits renewed as Individual members or have been added to their employer’s group roster. • 2009 campaign recruits that have already been invoiced for renewal, 63.3% renewed so far.

Recruitment Campaigns • First Time Member Special Offer $70 US or $76 CN (+ chapter dues if applicable) • 1026 new members as of July 8 • campaign continues through Dec 31, 2010 • Former Member Campaigns • 2 campaigns • 35 people re-established memberships • National Vacancy Campaign • 347 vacancies 237 agencies/companies • 82 filled 56 agencies/companies

Recruitment Campaigns • National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE) list • Rented list for one-time use • Targeted to those in the Northeast part of US who are not members of APWA (2,735 total) • Sent information about APWA products and programs and invited them to join at the 1st Time Member special offer price • Mailing sent in late June, results not tabulated yet

National Membership Committee and APWA Staff Working on … • Updates to online Toolkits • Enhanced Branch relations and increased membership • Special efforts related to retention of Public Agency group rostered members • Liaison with Diversity Committee’s “Generational Issues” subcommittee • Getting all chapter leaders to set up an APWA.NET login • Chapter Liaisons

What you can do to help … • Help Promote theFirst Time Member Special Offer • Establish a membership team/committee at your chapter (and branches if applicable) and assist in development of a 12-month Membership Plan for your chapter • Encourage your membership team to utilize the resources in the Recruitment Toolkit, the Retention Toolkit, and the Student Member Toolkit – all online and available to all members (in Member Tools)

  14. What you can do to help … • Promote use of Membership Coaches Corner • Encourage participation in the Chapter Leaders Forum – here at Congress, Sunday the 15th, from 2-4 pm in Room 205A • Share the wealth. We’re all on the APWA membership team.
