  2. INTRODUCTION • There are many different types of wind instruments. These are the groups; sax group, bagpipe group, reed group, famous horn group and horns from around the world group.

  3. REED PIPES • Reed pipes sound much like clarinets. The players tongue vibrates to make sound. Reed pipes are sometimes made of brass.

  4. PANPIPE • Horns from around the world group; • Panpipes are named after Pan the god of nature. It is mostly played in South America.

  5. ALPENHORN • The Alpenhorn is made of wood and echoed though the Alps. It is played for tourists but was used by herders.

  6. SHENG • The Sheng is a mouth organ that is made in China. It looks like a phoenix and it is complicated

  7. SERPENT The serpent looks like a snake. It is French and it was invented in 1590. It has two sets of finger holes. The Dragon flute has a dragon head in front. It makes a buzzing sound.

  8. TROMBONE • The trombone was made in the 15 century. It has a slide which is clumsy compared to valves. Move the slide to make deeper notes.

  9. FRENCH HORN • The French horn is made in Germany. It is a double horn and the tube is coiled.

  10. SAXOPHONE • The Sax Group: • The saxophone is cone shaped. It is a curved tube. The soprano sax is small and high-pitched. It is not curved but has the same key work as the saxophone.

  11. SOUSAPHONE • The sousaphone is deep sounding. It is American Saxes first made in 1899 Modern sousaphones are made of fiberglass. The are made of fiberglass.

  12. TIKTIRI • Bagpipe Group: • The Tiktiri is a double clarinet with a bag. It is used by snake charmers to make snakes rise. Its made of two cane pipes.

  13. BELLOW BLOWN BAG PIPE • The bellow blown bag pipe was first made in Hungary in the 20th century. The bag is made with goat skin.

  14. BINIOU • The biniou is a kind of bag pipe first made in the 19th century and still played today. • Wind instruments are popular every where.
