  7. Data Analysis Needs Assessment Results Monthly Attendance, Discipline, and Behavior Reports Bottom 25% of district test scores for each school. Transition Meetings - At the end of the year, counselors with students transferring to a new school in their zone developed a list of at-risk students based on several different factors such as behavior, attendance, discipline.

  10. Sample Goal Setting Process for Academics School Data Review ACT scores have declined well below the national average. Strategies • Students and parents are provided with resources on college entrance exams. • Data are analyzed to determine which students may need additional support to prepare for college entrance exams. SMART Goal Development By the end of the year, the school’s average ACT score will increase by 10%.

  21. Florence Elementary Jeri Lynn Rushing Goal: FES wanted to reduce discipline referrals by 5%. - PD with Teachers - Classroom Guidance - Students who had more than 4 ODR’s participated in groups & CICO. At the end of the year, discipline referrals were down by 7%.

  22. Pelahatchie Elementary Dana Lee During the fall of the 2013-2014 we reviewed bus referral data and determined we needed to implement an incentive program to decrease bus referrals. A road was posted on the wall in the cafeteria and each week the buses that had no referrals would travel down the road. At the end of six weeks, the buses that made it to the end of the road received an ice cream party.

Stonebridge Elementary Christy Tigrett & Pam Cooper Mississippi Farm Emphasis Week: Guidance classes discussed: • How making healthy choices leads to a healthier life • Agricultural occupations in our area, and representatives talked to students regarding their responsibilities relating to Mississippi agriculture. Students also worked cooperatively in groups to research various occupations using technology and then presented the information gained to the class. This unit helped students understand how important agriculture is in Mississippi and provided insight for jobs that are usually highlighted when discussing careers.

  25. Steen’s Creek Elementary Chelsea Rushing Goal: By the end of the 2013-2014 school year, disrespect referrals will decrease by 2% according to SWIS data. Classroom guidance lessons focused on different character traits. Being respectful was one of the character traits that was discussed in every lesson. We had 29 referrals for defiance in 2012-2013 and 20 referrals for defiance in 2013-2014. Most importantly, we have only had 2 disrespect referrals all year during 2014-2015.

  32. The Learning Center - Bus Buddies Bus buddies are assigned to students in kindergarten through 4th grade. The older students go to the elementary classrooms during the last few minutes of the day to discuss the events of the day. When the bell rings the buddies walk to the bus together.

  42. New Student Breakfast- BHS BHS peer counseling/tutoring group (Action Connection) & counselors host a breakfast meet & greet for our 100 or so new students each year. We do different recognitions and have administrators, counselors and students welcome them to BHS. This is funded various ways depending on the year.
