BACKGROUND • July 23, 2008 Board Requested Follow-up Discussions on the Following Outside Agencies: • Black Business Investment Fund (BBIF) • East Central Florida Regional Planning Council (ECFRPC) • Hispanic Business Initiative Fund (HBIF) • Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission (EDC) • Minority/Women Business Enterprise Alliance (M/WBE) • United Arts of Central Florida, Inc. • WMFE

  6. OUTSIDE AGENCIES Black Business Investment Fund • Create economic impact in Orange County through the provision of direct loans, loan guarantees, and business management development training to Black businesses.

  7. OUTSIDE AGENCIES East Central Florida Regional Planning Council • The Regional Planning Council provides a forum where leaders can discuss regional issues, develop responses for resolving them, and build consensus for setting and accomplishing regional goals.

  8. OUTSIDE AGENCIES Hispanic Business Initiative Fund • HBIF is a nonprofit organization in Central Florida that specializes in providing bilingual assistance to Hispanic entrepreneurs trying to establish or expand their business in Central Florida.

  9. OUTSIDE AGENCIES Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission • The mission of the EDC is to build a diverse economy capable of withstanding dramatic shifts in the global marketplace and to position Metro Orlando as the world’s premier business location.

  10. OUTSIDE AGENCIES Minority/Women Business Enterprise Alliance • Support the economic vitality of community by supporting entrepreneurship and developing resources (programs, services, and partnerships) promoting access and inclusiveness.

OUTSIDE AGENCIES United Arts of Central Florida, Inc. • United Arts of Central Florida is collaboration of businesses, governments, foundations, arts and cultural organizations, school districts, artists and individuals. This partnership works to enhance the quality and variety of cultural experiences available throughout Lake, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties.

  12. OUTSIDE AGENCIES WMFE • WMFE - known as Digital Channel 24 and 90.7 WMFE-FM, serves an 11-county Central Florida area with non-commercial, non-profit, member-supported public broadcasting. • Orange County contract with WMFE provides blocks of digital broadcast time on WMFE – CFAN.
