Incorporated - June 21, 2011 as a non-profit cooperation, as authorized under Guam law. • Membership – (Guam, CNMI, ROP, FSM & ROM) • Regular members: Full time fire chiefs and chief officers with 2-5 crossed bugles (Board of Directors/voting members). • Affiliate: Any member of a fire and emergency services organization (Captains, lieutenants, firefighters, administrative staff, medics, etc) • Associate: Elected or appointed officials, business representatives, and others interested in supporting the WPIAFC
Purpose- to foster and maintain professional fellowship and camaraderie among the fire service organizations of Guam and the neighboring island in Micronesia • Mission- • Cultivate a closer relationship between fire service organizations and the community; • To promote fire safety through research, study and education; • To serve as the recognized organization for exchange of ideas and information; • To research, plan, facilitate, and execute joint training in furtherance of continuing education among the fire service organizations • - June 21, 2011 as a non-profit Taxation
Accomplishments • On August 24, 2011 at the Fire Rescue International Conference Atlanta Georgia, History was made for the first time in 50 years, the WFC Board of Directors adopted a resolution admitting the WPIAFC to the Western Division of the IAFC. • WPIAFC President serves as a VP board member for WFC • Support and assistance from WFC /IAFC • Information sharing
Accomplishments • IAFC President and WFC President Visit- December 13, 2011. Established strong relationships with Governors (Guam & CNMI). • Established strong ties with the members of the 31st Legislature of Guam • Key Issues • Support for current Guam Fire Chief Confirmation • Guam Bill 422-31 (LS) Reinstatement of Chief of Fire and Police to previous position
Projects/Goals • IMAS program • Funded by FEMA • Establish relationships with all Micronesian Governments • Membership recruitment outreach (100%) • Partnering with other emergency response agencies, training institutions (Local DHS, PRATC, GCC, etc) and private companies.
Projects/Goals • Grants-Regional training for Chief Officer development & firefighting/EMS equipment • Acquiring used firefighting apparatus and equipment from our U.S counterparts through IAFC to assist pacific islands • Continue Giving Back to the Community • 1st Annual WPIAFC conference November 2012.
