  2. Ralph • “Ralph felt his lip twitch; he was angry with himself for giving way.” (pg. 72) • “Only, decided Ralph as he faced the chief’s seat, I can’t think. Not like Piggy.” (pg. 78) • “Ralph took the conch from where it lay on the polished seat and held it to his lips; but then he hesitated and did not blow.” (pg. 99) • “Ralph dismissed Simon and returned to his personal hell.” (pg.104) • “I’m chief. We’ve got to make certain. Can’t you see the mountain? There’s no signal showing. There may be a ship out there. Are all you off your rockers?” (pg.108)

  3. Jack • “They don’t smell me. They see me, I think. Something pink, under the trees.” He smeared on the clay. (pg. 63) • “Then Jack leapt to his feet, slashed off a great hunk of meat, and flung it down at Simon’s feet.” (pg. 74) • “I cut the pig’s throat,” said Jack proudly, and yet he twitched as he said it.
