SS.A.2.1.3 Understands the significance and historical contributions of historical figures during this period.  SS.A.1.1.2 Understands that history tells the story of people and events of other times and places. AT.5.2.2.1 Solves problems by using appropriate technology and "just in time" learning.  AT.5.1.2.1 Creates a simple technology-based project applying math, science, social studies, and language arts skills. LA.A.2.1.5Uses simple materials of the reference system to obtain information.

Rationale • It is important to create an appreciation for the State in which the students live. • It strengthens their sense of identity. • They can go home and teach their parents. • They will discover how unique their State is. • They will be able to identify a few key elements within their State.
