  2. Overview • Improving project decision making and relationships between contractors, consultants and DOT on construction projects is WisDOT priority • New evaluation process • Construction Materials Support Center conducts survey January 2013

  5. Project Team Evaluation of Contractor • Address past inconsistencies in responses • Industry needs candid feedback • This constructive feedback can be used to improve project staff and crews

  6. Project Communication Enhancement Effort (PCEE) • 2006 – began discussion. Resulted in developing select tools to enhance communication and working relationships • Tools developed, not mandatory and not fully embraced • Spring board for 2013 survey to review tools and to obtain information on overall project level decision-making

Communication tools identified by survey for improvement effort: NEW • Rolling 3-Week Look-Ahead Schedule • Designated materials contact person • Line of communication/decision timeline form • Progress meeting with standardized note format and responsible parties identified • Request For Information (RFI) process • Preconstruction meeting with standardized agenda NEW

  13. Next Steps • Workgroup to fully review survey results and recommend solutions for implementation this construction season • Discussion at all Regional Construction Conferences this spring • Resurvey 2014 to ensure progress
