Where do you see yourself in 10 years? (Age 23-24) • List 3 steps that you need to take NOW in order to accomplish those goals?

  4. PREPARATION NOTES 8/31: PAGES 6L-6R • Preparation • What can I do today to help me be a better, more successful person, tomorrow? • Five Main Ingredients to Become Successful:

  5. 1. Desire: An inner passion that drives you to be better tomorrow than you are today. 2. Vision: Actually visualizing your goal before you begin. 3. Planning: Creating a short & long-term plan to achieve your goal. 4. Sacrifice: Putting in the time and energy needed to achieve your goal. - Practice, Homework, Long hours at the gym, library, etc. 5. Perseverance: Overcoming obstacles that get in the way of achieving your goal.

  6. IV. Knowing who you are and what you want out of life will help you better prepare for your goals

  7. V. Mission Statement • 1. What is a Mission Statement? • A philosophy to live by • Who you are and what you stand for • A document based on core principles that don’t change • A foundation for every action and choice you make • A solid expression of your vision and values

  8. ASE MISSION STATEMENT: The Academy of Scientific Exploration provides a relevant, rigorous, high-quality, standards-based curriculum with an emphasis in mathematics, science, and technology. Students complete a college prep curriculum that fulfills A-G requirements and features community service and project-based learning strategies. To ensure equitable access, students participate in enrichment, intervention and test preparation programs based on individual need determined by multiple data- driven assessments. A character-focused curriculum is embedded throughout the educational experience, and students demonstrate leadership through activities based in collaboration, team building, advocacy, mentorship, community outreach and service. ASE empowers all stakeholders -- parents, teachers, students, administrators, and the community -- to play a vital role in the development of student education, character, and leadership skills.

Weekly Assign. #2: Preparation– page 7L-7R **Due THURS, 9/3!!! • Write these instructions in your WORKBOOK • Answer questions on workbook pages 18-19 • Answers go in your NOTEBOOK, pages 7L-7R. • Complete question #1. Use your notes from today. • For question #2: • Choose TWO of the letter options (A,B,C, or D) to complete. • Goal: Set a realistic goal to achieve by the end of the semester. • Action Plan: What 3 steps do you need to take in order to accomplish your goal?

Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger • Capt. Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger landed Flight 1549 in the Hudson River with all passengers/crew surviving. • At the age of five, he decided he wanted to be a pilot. • Before he could drive a car, Sullenberger obtained his pilot’s license. • He was a pilot for US Air for 29 years and is now retired. He travels the country teaching others how to respond in a crisis. • He is married and has two daughters.
