  2. -of one’s personal opinions, linked logically, on a given topic. • Format of an essay: Generally an essay can be divided in to three main parts, namely, the introduction, the body and the conclusion. Dipak Parikh

  3. How to write a good essay: (1)Collect and arrange ideas and facts in a logical order. (2)Make an outline of the essay. (3)Maintain linkage of ideas and continuity of thought throughout. Dipak Parikh

  4. (4)Avoid repetition and unnecessary or hackneyed expressions. (5)Frame simple and short sentences. (6)Ensure grammatical accuracy, correct spelling and appropriate punctuation. Dipak Parikh

  5. (7) Make sure that the essay is meaningful and quite readable. (8) Use sentences of different lengths and types so as to break the monotony and increase the interest factor. The quality is important not the length Dipak Parikh

  21. (1)We are quite familiars with a public figure like…………. (2)He is dressed shabbily and dirty. (3)He shouts about his items or rings the bell. (4)We see him going from one house to another house. Dipak Parikh

  22. (5)His is a very hard life because he has to go from one house to another house on foot. (6)He travels many kilometers a day. (7)One must be very careful while dealing with him because he can cheat you- Dipak Parikh

  23. -in so many ways. (8) His is a very important service to our society. (9)He comes to our door in all seasons. (10)Sometimes when we are not able to go out for purchasing our daily need,- Dipak Parikh

  28. Holi is one of the festivals of Hindu people. It is celebrated on full-moon day of Falgun. So it is called a festival day of spring. Prahlad worshipped God Vishnu. Hiranyakashyapa did not like this. He sent his sister Holika to Prahlad to burn him. But- Dipak Parikh

  29. -God turned Holika into ashes. So this festival is celebrated in honour of Prahlad’s victory over Holika. In the evening of the day people fire a big heap of wood and the cakes of cow-dungs. People worship the holy fires. The next day is called the day of ‘Dhuleti’. Dipak Parikh

  30. People throw coloured water and coloured powder on one another. They make merry. Children are out with full mood. They pass the whole day with joy. Indeed it is a festival of merry making. For Practice: Dipak Parikh
