  1. From Backwoods to Boardroom A FACES Snapshot of James W. Woodall EPSY 8160 – Family and Community Engagement Summer 2014 Presented by: Mikki Stinchcomb

  2. James W. Woodall Known as “Woody” to family and friends, James Woodall grew up in rural south Alabama. He was interested in just two things – hunting and sports! Woody was a gifted underachiever, who did just enough to get by.

  3. Early Years Although gifted academically, Woody did not excel in elementary and middle school; there was just so much else to do.

  4. It takes a village…There were two sets of parents that had a significant impact on Woody Dr. Robert and Hilda Story Dr. “Bob” and Ms. Hilda became his 2nd parents. They supported his interest in football and wrestling, while guiding him to improve his grades in school. “It took a village to raise the idiot” said Dr. Bob

  5. It takes a village… • Linda and James Stinson These parents worked with Woody on his family relationships. “Sometimes it felt like we were pulling Woody along and then pushing him to do what he was capable of doing” says Ms. Linda

  6. Coach & Mentor Coach Jimmy Wilson – Basketball Coach Coach Wilson became Woody’s mentor. He was the one responsible for Woody deciding that grades were important and necessary for his future. He was also the one who was responsible for Woody being recruited to play at Troy University. “Woody started to show his true colors in high school. I was proud to see his grades improve so much that he was recruited as a scholar athlete. What a change from the 8th grader that didn’t care about school, just wanted to play ball!” said Coach Wilson.

  7. College MentorDr. Robert Lauder became Woody’s mentor in college. It was his support that gave Woody the confidence to apply for his first job as a CPA in Atlanta. “ I give Dr. Lauder credit for my interest in accounting. I was injured playing basketball and trying to determine what to do next. He gave me the guidance I needed at that point in my life. He also helped with advice as I moved up the career ladder and needed direction.” said Woody

  8. The BoardroomWoody joined FIS in 2008 as Senior Vice-President, Chief Accounting Officer and Controller. He was named CFO in 2013. “One of the best things in this life is to be able to go back and tell those people that helped you, Thanks! The families, friends, and mentors I had are the reason that I was able to see a future beyond sports and hunting.”
