  4. OVERVIEW • 60 posts in total. • 6 posts during core training. • Same geographical area as far as possible • Move for educational reasons • Local tutors • Local site representatives

  6. Special Interest Sessions – CT3 • Eating Disorders • Intensive care • Early Intervention

  7. CT 1 – General Adult / Old Age • CT2 – GA / OA plus developmental • CT3 – Specialty posts

  8. Weekly one hour sessions with Consultant • Year 1 – consolidate basic knowledge and skills. Start to take exams. • Years 2 & 3 – expand on core knowledge, explore specialties, MRCPsych, decide on higher training.

  9. MRCPsych Exams • Written papers A and B • Clinical CASC • Can start written papers anytime • Need 24 months experience before CASC • See www.rcpsych.ac.uk

  11. STUDY LEAVE • 30 days per year • 15 internal and 15 external • 5 days per year may be private study (15 in 3 years) • MRCPsych uses study budget – approx half

  13. PSYCHOTHERAPY • YEAR 1 – Balint group. • YEAR 2 – 1 modality • YEAR 3 – 2 modalities and Assessment of Clinical Expertise (ACE)

  14. DEVELOPMENTAL • Need to have competencies to take CASC, but don’t need to do post • Do need to do post in Severn Deanery • Need developmental ACE by end CT3
