  4. Websites • Identify parts of a web address (URL)--.com, .edu, .org to indicate if it is going to be more commercial (try to sell you a product or opinion) or more informational and less biased • Preview • Highlight • Annotate • Outline

Websites—Determine Reliability • Authority • Is the author identified? • If no author is listed, is the organization that published the page listed? • Is the author an expert on the subject addressed in the document? • Is this topic one that would logically be addressed by this organization? • Is this a respected organization? • Does the domain listed in the URL add to the credibility of the publisher?

Websites—Determine Reliability • Accuracy • Is the content of this document consistent with other writings on the same subject? • Is this web site presenting a slanted or radical point of view? • Is this document trying to promote or sell something? • Does this document present an objective viewpoint?
