  2. S - Sinful • Had idol in his heart - Col. 3:5 • Covetousness violated 10 commandments - Exo. 20:3; 1 Jn. 3:4; Jas. 4:17 • Rich young ruler walked away - Lk. 10:16

  3. O - Opinionated • Had his own opinion • Christian life is one of faith - 2 Cor. 5:7; Gal. 2:20 • Faith is based on God’s word - Rom. 10:17

  4. R - Rash • Didn’t take time to weigh matter • One’s soul is too precious for rash decisions - Mk. 8:36-37 • Rash decision cause one to depart - Lk. 2:10-11; Jn. 6:27, 33; 10:27-28; 12:48 • Should be like man who sought goodly pearl - Matt. 13:45-46

  5. R - Rebellious • Prompts to reject Lord’s authority - 1 Sam. 15:23 • No business developing such - Jer. 10:23 • Should pray Lord’s will done - Matt. 6:10 • Jesus did not have rebellious spirit - Heb. 5:8-9

  6. O - Opulent • Rich or abundantly supplied • Happiness come from within - Lk. 12:15-21 • Wealth should be only means to an end - 1 Tim. 6:17-18; Matt. 27:57-60 • Can’t take it with you - 1 Tim. 6:7

  7. W - Willful • Made his own decision to turn away • Man is creature of choice - Josh.24:15; Matt. 23:37; Acts 13:46 • Must make own decision regarding service to God - Matt. 11:28-30

  8. F - Frustrated • Caught between two decisions; not happy with either • Whole-hearted obedience cures frustration - Matt. 23:37; 6:24; 6:33

  9. U - Unrepentant • He brought forth no fruit from repentance - Matt. 3:8 • Lack of repentance means loss of reward - Lk. 13:3; Acts 17:30

  10. L - Lost • He rejected the only way -Jn. 14:6 • Salvation brings joy-1 Pet. 1:8-9; Gal. 5:22; Eph. 2:11-12; 1 Thess. 4:13
