  2. What is Community College? • Community Colleges are an alternative system of education which aims to empower individuals through appropriate skill development leading to gainful employment in collaboration with the local industry and community.

  3. Markaz IHRAM-IGNOU Community College is an institution registered under the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) community college scheme. The concept of community colleges is new and unconventional. It helps for developing skill for employment and self employability particularly to the marginalized and under privileged sections of society

  11. 1. Community college can serve as a bridge from high school to collage by providing courses for transfer towards BA / B.Com ….etc 2. Many people entre collage without a clear idea of what they want focus on at community college one can explore different subject areas before committing the programme.

  12. 5. Any one wants to peruse college level course work but is not academically ready Community College offer classes and one on one tutoring to help such students in strengthening their basic skills.

  13. 6. Programmes like carrier oriented degree and skill development courses such as survey and leveling …etc are not available in the conventional system of college education

  14. 7. Somebody wants to take course in specialized area of study but do not want to spend the time necessary to earn Associate Degree. Community Colleges have certificate option that provides intensive training in a specialized field.

  15. 8. In Degree Colleges the student population trends to be highly diverse with regard to age, experience, family background, socio-economic level and employment status.
