  1. XERO UPDATE New GST Report & File Manager

  2. Verify your GST details • First time accessing the new GST report you will need to confirm some basic details. • Registration number, Accounting basis & Filling frequency should already be completed. • Reporting period (that is due) will need to be filled out.

  3. Click the arrow on Next Period Due to select the period. • It will default to 2012 so scroll down to the current period. • Select Save. This will create a draft GST return.

  4. Unreconciled transactions • This new feature saves you from finalising a return before all your data has been processed. • A warning will appear if there are any unreconciled statement lines

  5. New Report Layout • Late Claims replaces Adjustments. • Late Claims option will only appear if you have any in Xero. • Always include late claims unless there is a valid reason not to, if unsure call your Account Manager at WK. • GST Audit Report now fits in standard view and layout is GST on expenses first.

  6. Saving your GST return • Once satisfied the GST return is correct, select ‘Save’ and then ‘Save Final’. • For printing the return select, ‘Export’. Export the report to your preferred option (Pdf, Excel or Google docs) and then print from within that document.

  7. To see previous finalised returns there is a dedicated ‘Final returns’ tab that groups returns by financial year

  8. File Manager • Attach multiple documents to almost anything in Xero. • Files can be associated with invoices, transactions, expense receipts, fixed assets, contacts, chart of accounts and bank accounts.

  9. Uploading Files • Go to Settings > Files.

  10. How to drag a file into the file library • Locate the saved file on your computer. Drag it into the Files screen.

  11. Uploading a file to the file library • Go to Settings > Files. • From the Inbox or after opening one of your folders, select: • + Upload files, if there are no files in this folder, or • Upload Files, to add additional files to this folder. • Browse and attach your file

  12. Upload a file directly to a transaction or item • Open your transaction or item. (To open an account in your chart of accounts, click the account balance in the YTD column.) • Click the file attachment icon and select + Upload files.... • Browse and attach your file.

  13. Drag a file directly to a transaction or item • Open your transaction or item. • Locate the file you've saved to your computer. Drag it into the Xero screen.

  14. Once the file is uploaded, close by clicking the mouse away from text box.

  15. If you click on the X you then have the option to delete or remove from invoice.

  16. Helpful Items to Upload • Hire Purchase agreements • Loan Documents • Fixed Asset details/invoices (when purchasing or selling assets) • Repairs and maintenance invoices for amounts over $500 • Interest/RWT certificates • Dividend Advice • Legal Invoices • Insurance details/invoices • ACC details/invoices • Dissected items such as Visa, PGG etc • Bank Statement showing account closing balances for financial year end
