  3. What is the Trust Fund? The Nebraska Affordable Housing Trust Fund (NAHTF) was created by the 1996 Nebraska Affordable Housing Act with the purpose of enhancing the economic development of the State and contributing to the general prosperity of Nebraska’s citizens through the provision of safe and affordable housing.

  4. How is it Funded? Funding for the NAHTF is received from revenue generated through the state’s Documentary Stamp Tax. The tax is collected by counties, remitted to the Nebraska State Treasurers office, and credited to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development (DED).

  5. Why is the Affordable Housing Trust Fund Necessary? • Nebraska continues to be faced with a lack of affordable housing • Due to declining federal sources and rising costs, a state commitment to address the needs of affordable housing is necessary

  6. Fund Achievements Since the program awarded its first funds in July 1998 it has: • Awarded $87,943,511 • Which was matched by $300,486,047 • Created 4,765housing units • Created 6,301jobs
