What is Tools of Trade? • Tools of trade are created to support an individual to gain and sustain meaningful employment • Assists individuals during initial transition into employment • A specific tool is developed , to help the individual to complete a duty successfully • The client is employed in the mainstream workforce using their tool of trade

  3. Advantages of Tools of Trade • The tool of trade is portable. • The tool is carried to the workplace the same way you carry a laptop. • Every tool is tailored to each clients needs and job specification

  4. How does the tool benefit a person living with a disability ? • The tools support working environment • The person has a recognisable workstation, supporting them to feel comfortable with their surroundings • There is no element of surprise • The tool gives the client confidence in his/her ability to successfully complete a job specific task.

  5. The impact the tool of trade has on the client’s life • He/she is respected as an equal citizen of New Zealand • The client gains meaningful employment and is able to participate as a valued member of the workforce • The client is able to achieve independence and a sense of dignity in the workplace. • He/she gains confidence, self-esteem and has a purposeful life.

Our objective is for our clients to be out in the community, if people with a disability obtain a job they become part of the community workforce. • The effectiveness of being part of the workforce: • It make our clients more enthusiastic about their lives; • Helps them to build upon their strengths; • Helps them to overcome weaknesses; • Helps them to see effort as central to success • Gives them a sense of belonging.
