  2. Diagnosis • Conduct a physical examination • Obtain laboratory tests • X-rays or other imaging tests • Doctor will examine all of the patient’s joints for • Redness, warmth, deformity, ease of movement, and tenderness

  3. SYMPTOMS • Inflammation in the joints • Pain or tenderness in a joint • Joint deformity • Lack of energy or weakness • Unexplained weight loss

  4. HOW DO YOU GET IT? • Poor diet • It can be genetic • Chemicals you may have been around • Imbalance in your body

  5. PREVENTION • controlling weight • regular exercise • balanced diet

  6. TREATMENT • Physical therapy • Occupational therapy • Aspirin • Enteric-coated aspirin

  7. STATISTICS • An estimated 46 million adults in the United States reported of having arthritis • One in five adults in the U.S report having arthritis. • By 2030, an estimated 67 million Americans ages 18 years or older are to have arthritis.
