WP1 ContextJERICO main focus • 1-To set up a European Research Infrastructure for coastal observation as needed in research and Operational Oceanography activities • 2-To define the criteria for a Label JERICO (set of parameters, frequency, sampling scheme, data quality, data delivery…) • 3- To sustain networks which are in compliance with Label criteria to secure long term series of data. • 4-To provide opportunities to access to plate-forms for testing/demonstrating experiments and data for assimilation experiments • 5- Better use of R/V, fishing boats & ships of opportunity • 6- Develop a partnership strategy to operate the pool of Gliders in Europe (technical expertise for both vehicle and sensors, operational strategy). Tasks of JERICO WP1 T1.1 : Set up the scene and implementation plan • Main deliverable: • An e-forum where a glossary will be presented and discussed. • This glossary documents : • outputs of previous projects • definitions and methods of, for instance: priority variables to measure, standards on quality assurance (methods), … • guidelines and technical guides and manuals • setting the terms of reference of the FCT • analysing the present successes and gaps of the existing facilities: • Relevance of the data • Quality of the data • Qualification processes of sensors • Benefit optimization • This is an input for other WPs work PARIS – Maison de la recherche - 24 & 25 May 2011
