  7. Strengths of the Swedish school system Swedish pupils are good at • critical thinking • communication (English!) • new technology Swedish pupils believe in • equality • democracy

  8. Problems of the Swedish school system • Declining results (language, mathematics, science) • Increasing differences between schools • High costs • Boys do not think it´s cool to learn!

  9. Curriculum reform in compulsory school • Curriculum for grades 1-9 • Fundamental values • Goals and guidelines • Syllabus for each subject • Minimum standards and grading criteria for each subject

  10. Changes in the curriculum • More distinct goals • A defined central content • Minimum standards and grading criteria connected to the goals and the content • Innovation and entrepreneurship in the curriculum An implementation campaign for teachers!

  11. Entrepreneurship and innovation in pre-school ”The pre-school activitites should be amusing, safe and rewarding for every child”. ”The curiosity, initiative and interests of the children should be encouraged and their will and liking for learning should be stimulated”.

Innovation and entrepreneurship in compulsory school ”The school should stimulate the pupils´ creativity, curiousity and self-confidence and their will to test their own ideas and to solve problems. The pupils must be given the opportunity to take initiatives and responsibility and to develop their ability to work independently and together with others. In that way the school should contribute to the development of an attitude of innovation and entrepreneurship”.
