  2. Let’s get started… • Please take a minute or two to complete a quick questionnaire • We’ll complete it again at the end of the project to see if your views have changed.

  3. The stuff we throw away • Where does it go? • Where did it come from? • How’s it made?

  4. Your homework… • Make a rubbish diary to show everything you and your family throw away in 2 days • Due in 20th Sept (2 weeks’ time) • Stick your sheet in the kitchen by the bin • Ask everyone to write down what they put in

  5. So what IS plastic?? • Believe it or not, it’s made from oil • Oil’s made from sea creatures that died millions of years ago that got buried and squashed • The oil is trapped underground. It gets pumped out using this     

  6. Next the oil is sorted into different liquids • This is done in a refinery like this 

  7. One of the liquids is used to make plastic…

  8. …which is shaped as necessary… ..then sold to us!

  9. Then we throw it away • It ends up in any of these

  10. So what’s this got to do with me? • Brainstorm here!

  11. Next… • You can choose! • Show the process of making ‘Paul the Plastic bag’, and what happens when he’s thrown away. • Choose from: • Cartoon • Story • Pictures • Flow chart
