Our mission… • Be the voice, eyes, and ears of middle level as representatives of m-l statewide – we are a stakeholder group • Get and give information from SED – before decisions are made and during implementation and evaluation periods • Share expertise among ourselves with more intensive format • Improve SED program and assessment • Impact policy at the state level – i.e. renewal of NCLB – political action • Provide m-l leadership Academies • Educate district superintendents on Essentials of Middle Level

Our mission…con’t • Inform instruction by disseminating shared best practices and state guidelines/expectations/requirements • To promote/plan/implement M-l based professional development • Accountability to other levels – elementary and high school • Evaluations at end of every year • Develop innovations and “next steps” • Have reps on SED committees - SCDN

Our mission… • Be middle level SED rep at area BOCES to get input and answer questions • Communicate with peers through technology (Podcast, CD of info, etc.) • Inform principal, dep’t. chairs, etc. • Share professional development opportunities with application examples from our schools • Have professional development speakers at our meetings

Our mission… • Do all of previously-mentioned items to improve student success • Guarantee continuity for future participants – retirements • Collaborate and articulate with other professional organizations including higher ed., other state and national associations • Engage in research on m-l • Connection with PTA

  6. Our mission, con’t • Disseminate info to colleagues • Work sessions • Quality assurance of high-performance programs • Implementation, measurement and accountability of Essential Elements

Our vision… • Implement the Essential Elements • Accountability of middle level • Promoting middle level • Consistency across NYS in m-l • Inform instruction by disseminating shared best practices and state guidelines/expectations/requirements • Middle level voice • Develop middle level administrators’ academy
