  3. Definition • What is a document camera? • projects any type of 2d or 3d material • Portable, easy to use • Can save individual images onto memory stick or computer • Works in conjunction with Smart Notebook software • Can video tape lessons to play back later

  7. How to hook it up (Audio directions) • 1. Hook RGB cord to back of Document camera (RGB Out) • 2. Hook RGB cord to projector (computer in) • 3. Turn both document camera and projector on, make sure document camera is set for “camera.”

  11. How to hook up to laptop • Unhook RGB cord from document camera and hook it into the laptop • Hook gray USB cord into the document camera and the laptop (review = RBG runs from laptop to projector and gray cord runs from laptop to document camera) #1 #2

  15. Reflection • Turn to your partner and discuss a lesson you would save for students to view for later use. Q: What can you do if your image is not showing up on the laptop? A: Go to the Troubleshoot slide.

Top Ten • Project any book or image for the class to see • Capture images of 3d objects – tangrams while working on geometry • Record a frog dissection for students to review later • Project images for a whole school assembly – such as a school song • Teach a skill such as underlining adjectives for the whole class to see and repost image for class review.

  18. Troubleshooting Q: Why won’t my memory stick show up? A: It may not be inserted correctly or formatted. (Click here for more information) Q: What do I do if there is no imageshowing up on the laptop? A: Make sure your Smart Notebook software is open and the document camera icon is selected. Q: What do I do if my projected image is a blue screen? A: Make sure all cords are connected properly and the source button on the projector is on “computer 1.”

  19. Troubleshooting cont. Q: What can I do about a shadowon my slate? A: Adjust the document camera head to eliminate the shadow. Q: How can I make the image larger? A: Use the zoom knob on the camera head or the zoom option in the Smart Notebook software. Q: Why can’t I find the lesson I just recorded? A: Look in your “My documents” folder for a WMV file.
