Every year numbers of trekkers visit this region to experience the magic that Himalayas presents. • Kanchenjunga Base Camp Trek is restricted area trekking in Nepal. So you need a local guide and at least trekkers to hike Kanchenjunga. • Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek is least-popular that other classic trek like Everest Base Camp Trek or Annapurna Base Camp Trek. That means it is not crowded and still remote than other region. You can experience highly remote terrain, unharmed Nepalese cultures, foods and lifestyle in its traditional forms during the trek.

  3. Here are the list of top things that you should know about Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek • Kanchenjunga Trek Permit Trekkers need to obtain special restricted area entry permit for Kanchenjunga. It costs USD 10 per person, per week. The trekking permit commences from Tapethok VDC and concludes at Yamphuding VDC. The Kanchenjunga trekking permit is issued in Kathmandu at the department of Immigration before you depart. A minimum number of two trekkers, a guide and registered agency is required to purchase the permit. Kanchenjunga Conservation Area permit is also required and this can be purchased in Kathmandu or the checkpoint on the trek.

  4. Kanchenjunga Trek Itinerary • There are three trekking route to Kanchenjunga south Base camp or Kanchenjunga North Base Camp. The Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek route covers both base camps and you can do it clockwise or anti-clockwise. The numbers of days required 16 – 25 days depending on the starting point of the trek.

  5. Kanchenjunga Trek Accommodation • There are lots of choices in accommodation in Taplejung and Bhadrapur. A room with proper air conditioning costs 35 USD and normal fan room starts from 5 USD. While trekking you don’t have choices with regards to accommodation. The accommodation is very basic.

  6. Food • Food is very basic during Kanchenjunga Circuit Trek. DaalBhaat Tarkari is widely available on the trail. It is full of healthy calories which helps you remain fueled up throughout the trail. In some place, you will get macaroni, pasta and spaghetti. We suggest you to pack your favorite snack as it is not available on the trail.

  7. Difficulty • Kanchenjunga Circuit Trekking is rated as one of the “challenging” trail in Nepal. Facilities are very basic on the trail.

  8. Kanchenjunga Trek post-earthquake • Kanchenjunga is located in the eastern boundary of Nepal, sharing a border with Sikkim and Tibet. Kanchenjunga region was not affected by the recent earthquake. The trekking trail is still safe and teahouses are in best conditions.
