  2. Biographical Information: • He was born July 4th, 1883 in San Francisco California. • Rube Goldberg was a cartoonist, sculptor, author, engineer, and an inventor. • He died December 7th 1970.

  3. What is a Simple Machine? • A simple machine is a device that helps make work easier. • Some simple machines are a wheel, a pulley, a lever, a screw, and an inclined plane. • There are six total simple machines.

  4. What is a Rube Goldberg contraption? • It is a simple machine that completes a task in a complex way. • His drawings usually contained an animal that helps with the task. • Many things are put together in his contraptions to do a simple task.

  5. Safety Device for walking on icy pavements: • When you slip on ice, your foot kicks the paddle, lowering the finger, the snapping turtle extends its neck to bite the finger, opening the ice tongs and dropping a pillow, allowing you to fall on something soft.

  6. Picture Snapping Machine: As you sit on the cushion , you force air through a tube which starts an ice boat , causing a lighted cigar to explode the balloon . The dictator, hearing loud report, thinks he's been shot and falls over backward on the bulb which snaps a picture.
