  1. Step 7 Holiness

  2. Holiness • “You shall be Holy, for I am Holy” (I Peter 1:16). • Don’t settle for anything less than the best God offers, which is intimate communion with the Holy Trinity – The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  3. Build the Relationship • Walking with God is a way of life. It includes loving Him, reading the Scriptures, meditating on Scriptures, and talking with God daily – praying. • If you love God, you will also obey Him. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  4. Obedience • Walk in obedience, not victory. • Obedience is God oriented; victory is self oriented. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  5. Be Willing • Holiness is not a series of do’s and don’ts • Holiness consists of a willingness and a desire to conform to the character of God and obedience to the will of God. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  6. To Achieve Holiness • First, you must go through the 7 Steps of the Cure of Souls • Reject sin • Confess • Forgive – yourself and others • Have faith – believe in your heart and confess with your mouth • Love – yourself and others • Pray The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  7. Knowing God • Getting to know God on this level takes time. • We live in a fast-paced world, and we like to see things happen quickly • Often we wonder what more God can do for us rather than what do we need to do to live for Him. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  8. Time in the Scriptures • Spending time in daily reading, studying, and meditating on Scripture will be important if you want to know God on the level where you can truly experience Him. • Reading Scripture and spending time in prayer are the two fundamental paths to Holiness. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  9. Set Your Mind • The Apostle Paul urges us to stop putting our focus on things of the world, but rather to focus on the Holiness of God. • Paul tells us to let our minds dwell on things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, of good repute; if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise; let your mind dwell on these things. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  10. Our Paradox • Because we know only human things, our ideas are inadequate to try to describe Holiness and who God is. • There is a paradox here because we want a personal image of God, but we need to keep in mind that God will not fit our images. He is beyond all images and categorical descriptions. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  11. Holiness Takes Time • We must be willing to spend time in prayer and Scripture reading if we want to achieve this level of Holiness and living in unity with God. • Praying on our way to work (only if we remember to) will not get us there. • We also want God to answer our prayers right away; we cannot fathom what it might have been like to wander the desert for 40 years. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  12. Achieving Holiness • Being holy will also require that you are merciful to others. • You must love your neighbor as yourself. • You must also take responsibility for your actions and your sin, and for your growth toward a place of Holiness with God. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  13. Sin Cannot Defeat Believers • Do not say you are “defeated” by sin. Sin cannot defeat us if we are believers; we are not defeated, we are disobedient. • Once we are to this point of knowing God better and having a relationship with Him, we aren’t living in victory or defeat, we are living either in obedience or disobedience. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  14. Process • Going through The 7 Steps to the Cure of Souls is a process. It will take time. You may need to go back over some steps again, maybe a few times. • If you have trouble with a step, find someone to help you through it. • Take the steps to have a close relationship with God. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  15. If… • “If you seek Him with all of your heart, He will be found by you!” (Jeremiah 29: 13-14). • We must focus on a relationship with God first, and also relationships with other believers. • By loving one another, we can achieve the Cure of Souls. The 7 Steps to The Cure of Souls

  16. Achieve The Cure of Souls • The truth of the Cure of Souls is the knowledge that unconfessed sin is, much of the time, at the center of the cause of pain, suffering, and distress. • The acknowledgement and rejection of sin, and going through The 7 Steps of the Cure of Souls will bring us closer to the mystical union with God and eternal life in His presence.
