Clarinets. Megan Kalman November 20, 2011. Family. There are many different clarinets in the clarinet family. The most common is the regular Bb clarinet. Other common ones include Eb , Alto, Bass, Contralto, Contrabass, and Contraforte .

  2. Family • There are many different clarinets in the clarinet family. • The most common is the regular Bb clarinet. • Other common ones include Eb, Alto, Bass, Contralto, Contrabass, and Contraforte. • The Ab clarinet is the highest an the Contraforte clarinet is the lowest.

  3. Types • Different clarinets are made out of different materials. • The most common materials are plastic and wood but some are also metal. • The plastic clarinets are normally for beginners and are better for outdoor weather. • Wooden clarinets are more for intermediate and professional clarinets and are better in an indoor environment.

  4. Famous Clarinet Players • Richard Stoltzman is from the United States. He is the most popular classical clarinet player in the country and plays with famous orchestras. • Benny Goodman is an American jazz clarinetist. His nickname is "The King Of Swing”. • There are numerous clarinet players that are famous; here are a few: • Sabine Meyer is a soloist in Germany.

  5. Bands • Clarinets are played in almost every type of band. • Clarinets are not often considered a jazz instrument, but are sometimes still played in a jazz band. • There is a fewer amount of clarinets played in an orchestra than other bands. • Clarinets can be played in marching band too but it is best to play a plastic one.
