  3. VEHICLE SECURITY Vehicle security is every Commander’s and soldier’s responsibility, theft of our vehicles decreases readiness and costs our units hundreds of thousands of dollars. With the combined efforts of all soldiers and leaders, the 13th Military Police Company will lead the way in the prevention of vehicle theft and vandalism. IMPORTANCE:

  4. VEHICLE SECURITY PERSONAL VS. GOVERNMENT PROPERTY PERSONAL PROPERTY TA-50 SHOULD NEVER BE LEFT IN VEHICLE!!! US ARMY GOVERNMENT PROPERTY - BII ** If government items are stolen from an unsecured vehicle, driver will be held accountable!

  5. VEHICLE SECURITY Who’s responsible for vehicle security? COMMANDER - overall responsible; signed for all property in unit PHYSICAL SECURITY OFFICER/NCO - Conducts spot checks - reports any violations SAFETY NCO - Conducts random spot checks in motor pool and customer locations - reports violations to the Commander And…. Squad Leader Platoon Sergeant Section Sergeant Mechanics SDO/SDNCO

  6. VEHICLE SECURITY DRIVER/OPERATORS RESPONSIBILITIES ENSURE THE FOLLOWING: All windows & doors are secured All internally & externally stored equipment is secured The steering wheel is locked All equipment is turned in (QTDs, Log Book, and Keys)

  7. VEHICLE SECURITY When does responsibility start? As soon as the driver signs for the keys or vehicle equipment When does responsibility end? When hand receipts are cleared When keys are signed in to the dispatcher and logged on the key control sheet ACCOUNTABILITY - A non-safeguarded vehicle could possibly be stolen - Stolen items may be needed for a break down - Any items missing will result in a Statement of Charges!!

  8. VEHICLE SECURITY When should vehicles be secured?? When the vehicle is out of sight While doing errands At the Dining Facility In the Motor pool At customer location When being left overnight Anytime you are away from the vehicle for an extended length of time BOTTOM LINE:

  9. VEHICLE SECURITY OVERNIGHT PARKING • PARK VEHICLE IN SECURE AREA IF POSSIBLE • PARK IN WELL LIT AREA • NOTIFY MPs & REQUEST POSSIBLE DRIVE BY • PATROL WHEN SECURE AREA NOT AVAILABLE • SECURE VEHICLE, REMOVE PERSONAL PROPERTY, • LOGBOOK, KEYS, & PAPERWORK

  10. VEHICLE SECURITY CONSEQUENCES OF UNSECURED VEHICLE LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY NOT REIMBURSABLE LOSS OF VEHICLE AND/OR EQUIPMENT UCMJ Article 15 Court Martial STATEMENT OF CHARGES EXTRA DUTY = MOTOR POOL GUARD COUNSELING STATEMENTS

  11. VEHICLE SECURITY M915A1/2/3 & 2 1/2 Ton • BII BOX INSIDE A1 • OUTSIDE A2 AND A3 • ALL VEHICLES MUST BE • SECURED WITH 200 SERIES LOCKS • SAME ‘s FIT ALL TRUCKS ARMY WIDE • ROLL UP ALL WINDOWS & SECURE WING WINDOWS • MUD FLAPS AND STEERING WHEEL MUST BE SECURED WITH A CHAIN

  12. VEHICLE SECURITY HMMWV - M998 - ENSURE STEERING WHEEL IS SECURED WITH THE UNDERDASH-MOUNTED CABLE - SECURE CABLE WITH 200 SERIES LOCK
