Labour market analysis Three basic indicators: Labour force participation rate (Women & Men) Unemployment rate (Women & Men) Employmentgrowth (Women & Men) Additionalindicators: Ratio of youth to adultunemployment rates (Women & Men) Ratio of men to womenunemployment rates Employment-population ratios School-to-work transitions

  3. Labour force participation rate (LFPR) = 100 * Employed plus unemployed Total population Calculated for population aged 15 years or more and for specific age/sex groups

  4. Unemployment rate =100* Number of unemployedLabour force Labour force = Number of employed + Number of unemployed

  5. Employment growth =100* (Change in number of employedbetween period t-1 and period t)Number employed in period t-1

  6. Ratio of youth to adult unemployment rates= 1: Youth unemployed rate Adult unemployment rate Similar for Ratio of men to women unemployment rates

  7. Employment-population ratio= 100 * Number of employed Number in population Calculated for total population, for population of working age, or for age/sex groups.

  8. School-to-work transition= 100 * Number of former studentst-1 now in labour forcet Number of former studentst-1
