Title of Project

This project aims to explore students' initial beliefs about science and scientists, such as it being difficult, nerdy, and remote from life. By engaging in interdisciplinary research and highlighting the role of physics, we aim to change these perceptions and show the real-world relevance of science. Through this project, we hope to foster deeper thinking, problem-solving skills, and a sense of belonging in the field of physical sciences.

  1. Title of Project • Name of School • Name of Students

  2. What we believed science was • Quotes from each student about what each thought • “science is really hard” • “scientists are nerdy” • “science is remote from life”

  3. How is this project related to a real world problem? How do the sciences work in an interdisciplinary way to achieve this? What role does physics play?

  4. The project goal • This the project goal • Not just the title • What you want to find out and why it is important • e.g. The goal is to find the structure of a microscopic object using the Phase Retrieval System • When we know the structure of molecules that cause disease then drugs can be designed to treat the disease. This can have enormous impact on individuals and society.

  5. Put Your Presentation In Here Insert as many slides as you need

  6. Why Should We care about the Research here?

  7. How is it relevant to Community and Society?

  8. How Has Our View of Science or Scientists Changed? How does it compare to what you have thought, or what expectations People have of scientists, especially physicists?

  9. Am I capable, do I belong? • In relation to how to my capabilities, have I changed my view of my capacity to do the sciences especially physics? • Has my concept of belonging to this group of careers changed

  10. What Have We Learnt? • Suggestions Only • Experimental techniques • Measures and read data accurately • Use different instruments such as Spectrometer • Team Work • Organization • Problem Solving • Communication • Observation • Deeper and more meaningful thinking

  11. What choices have opened up to me In Possible Career Choices? • By seeing the connection of what physical scientists do and how they contribute to real world problems and that they can change lives for us and change societies, how do you view options in these sciences. • Also the fact that physical sciences impact on the the other sciences that we think of as the ones that help people how has it changed your thinking about them?

  12. How has being part of GTP changed my appreciation for physical science? • Suggestions I find physics a bit more easier and think that it is easy to do and experiment after having proper understanding about what we are doing • Science is not all just about specific facts but can actually be fun and exciting • Science is a part of everything and everyone • It is a subject that can be for anyone • Science can be pursued by those who “lack intelligence” as long as persistence and diligence is present • Society requires science • It is more entertaining than a text book
