Distinguished achievement plan – 26 Credits • 4 English Courses- • English I, II, and III, & English IV/ Advanced English credit • 4 Math Courses- • Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Advanced Math • 4 Science Courses- • Biology, IPC or Chemistry, plus another 2 Advanced Sciences • 4 Social Studies Courses- • World Geography, World History, U.S. History, ½ Economics, ½ Government • 2 Credits of Language Other than English - French or Spanish • *Programing Languages, Core or Career Tech apps, or Language and Culture class may substitute for students w/disabilities • 1 Credit of Physical Education • 1 Credit of Fine Arts • 0.5 Credit of Health • 6.5 Electives (including 4 Endorsement electives)

Languages Other Than English (LOTE) SBOE Rule A student, who due to a disability, is unable to complete two credits in the same language in LOTE, may substitute: -a combination of two credits from English language arts, mathematics, science, or social studies -two credits in career and technical education or technology applications The determination regarding a student's ability to complete the LOTE credit requirements will be made by:-the student's ARD committee if the student receives special education services under the TEC, Chapter 29, Subchapter A or the committee established for the student under Section 504, Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (29 United States Code (USC), §794)

  11. Endorsement Options • Students will choose between one of the following five endorsement options • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) • Business and Industry • Arts and Humanities • Public Services • Multidisciplinary Studies

Arts and Humanities • The Arts and Humanities endorsementis a curriculum path that allows for a student to focus deeply on courses directly related to fine arts, English literature, foreign languages, and social studies. • Careers • Students interested in pursuing a career path in the entertainment industry or as an interpreter, or writer, for example, may want to consider the Arts and Humanities endorsement to guide course selection.

Business and Industry • The Business and Industry endorsementis a curriculum path that allows a student to focus deeply on courses directly related to the business field. • Careers • Careers related to this field include: information technology specialist, communications, financial advisor, marketing specialist, architect, construction, and project management. Students interested in pursuing an intentional path in the business world may want to consider the Business and Industry endorsement to guide course selection.

Public Services • The Public Services endorsementis a curriculum path that allows a student to focus deeply on courses directly related to the public service field, including the education field and government. • Careers • There is a wide range of careers available in the public services sector, including serving as a police officer, firefighter, government official, human resource administrator, or teacher. Students interested in pursuing an intentional path toward any of these careers should consider a Public Service endorsement to guide course selection.

STEM • The STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) endorsementis a curriculum path that allows a student to focus deeply on courses related to science, technology, engineering, and math. • Careers • There is wide range of careers available in the STEM field, including: engineer, computer programming, software developer, and research scientist. • Students interested in pursuing an intentional path toward any of those careers should consider a STEM endorsement to guide course selection.

Multidisciplinary • The Multiple Disciplinary endorsement allows for students to further study a foundation area or a wide range of curriculum sets. • Careers • Because of the broad nature of a multidisciplinary endorsement, students can choose from a wide variety of careers. If students are unsure of their career interests and wish to cross-study multiple subjects, they may want to consider the multidisciplinary endorsement to guide course selection.

Performance Acknowledgements • Students may earn a performance acknowledgement on the student’s diploma by achieving one of the following: • Outstanding performance in • dual credit courses • bilingualism and biliteracy • Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) exams • PSAT, ACT-Plan, SAT, or ACT • By earning a nationally or internationally recognized business or industry certification license

All Freshmen will take 8 classes: • English I • Math (Algebra I, Geometry, or Alg II) • Biology or IPC • World Geography 5-8 Choose 4 more classes: - Language other than English - PE or Athletics - Career Technology Education Classes - Fine Art - Elective *Although Health is a required course, we are requiring students to take it their junior and senior year, so that students are able to take the majority of required courses to obtain an endorsement are taken at the entry-level.

Performance AcknowledgementsSBOE Rule • A student may earn a performance acknowledgment on the student's diploma and transcript for outstanding performance in a dual credit course by successfully completing: • (1) at least 12 hours of college academic courses, including those taken for dual credit as part of the Texas core curriculum, and advanced technical credit courses, including locally articulated courses, with a grade of the equivalent of 3.0 or higher on a scale of 4.0 or • (2) an associate degree while in high school

Performance Acknowledgements SBOE Rule • A student may earn a performance acknowledgment in bilingualism and biliteracy by demonstrating proficiency in accordance with local school district grading policy in two or more languages by: • (1) completing all English language arts requirements and maintaining a minimum grade point average (GPA) of the equivalent of 80 on a scale of 100; and • (2)satisfying one of the following: • •completion of a minimum of three credits in the same language in a language other than English with a minimum GPA of the equivalent of 80 on a scale of 100; or • •demonstrated proficiency in the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills for Level IV or higher in a language other than English with a minimum GPA of the equivalent of 80 on a scale of 100; or • •completion of at least three credits in foundation subject area courses in a language other than English with a minimum GPA of 80 on a scale of 100; or • •demonstrated proficiency in one or more languages other than English through one of the following methods: • a score of 3 or higher on a College Board AP exam for a language other than English; or • a score of 4 or higher on an IB exam for a higher-level languages other than English course; or • performance on a national assessment of language proficiency in a language other than English of at least Intermediate High or its equivalent

Performance AcknowledgementsSBOE Rule • In addition to meeting the requirements to earn a performance acknowledgment in bilingualism and biliteracy, an English language learner must also have: • (A) participated in and met the exit criteria for a bilingual or English as a second language (ESL) program; and • (B) scored at the Advanced High level on the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System (TELPAS).
