Capability Enhancement Activities • Continuing operation and maintenance of Post-Entry Quarantine Service (PEQS) Molecular Biology Laboratory  Participation in meetings and workshops: • 11thMeeting of the ASEAN Genetically Modified Food Testing Network (GMF Net), Vientiane, Lao PDR August 14-15, 2014 • Seventh Meeting of the Parties (MOP7) to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety held on September 29 to October 3, 2014 in South Korea • APEC Workshop on the Plant Biotechnology Life Cycle held on September 14-16, 2014 in Beijing, China • Global LLP Initiative (teleconference calls)

  6. Conduct of training- workshop Workshop on Risk Assessment Capability Enhancement (RACE) of ComReps, PhilFIDAIBC and Implementers in the Evaluation of Bt Cotton Varieties held on October 14-17, 2014 in Polomolok, South Cotabato

  7. Policy Formulation • Drafting of memorandum circular on “Enhancing the Insect Resistance Management (IRM) Strategy for Bt Corn Targeting Asian Corn Borer (ACB)”

Biosafety Information Dissemination Activities • Biosafety considerations and regulatory policies are discussed as part of lectures • Biotech 101 training for DA Regional Executive Directors and RAFCs, held at PhilRice on 11-15 August 2014. • Presentations by BPI personnel and Dr. Antonio Alfonso on various occasions
