  1. Presentation to new P1 parents Parent Support Group (PSG) 29 November 2010

  2. A Warm Welcome to the parents who will be joining our CHIJ Our Lady Queen of Peace Family in 2011. Introduction to The PSG • Started April 2010 • Great opportunity to enhance your child’s experience of school life. • More resources available for your child to provide learning and enrichment modules.

  3. Takes to heart the school motto and aims to work hand in hand/ and in line with MOE and school guidelines • PSG is in its “ INFANCY “, needs your abilities and expertise to create a solid foundation for the organization. • Structure in place is a “Working Committee”. There are different sub-committees such as Finance, IT, etc. • Formal election to be held next year (2011)

  4. The PSG would like to introduce the concept of a “Class Parent” • The role is to liaise between parents, teachers and the school. • Two or more Class Parent to a class. • Support school programmes together with other parents • Reading, Maths • Backstage support for class / school productions or any sporting competitions where parental support is needed. • The class parent could also organize a coffee morning or evening for parents to get to know each other.

  5. PSG Activities 2010 • Founder’s Day: On this day children were treated with candy floss, dry snacks, drinks as well as ice cream. • “Tea with the Principal” for Primary 1 and Primary 2 pupils. Two classes a day share their ‘special time’ with the principal. Took place during the week of September 14-16th and 21st -24th. • Children’s Day: Class Parents of Primary 3, 4 and 5 provided delicious baked items, dry snacks and drinks for a “Bake Sale” during recess.

  6. Children’s Day montage for the Children with their pictures and messages of love and encouragement from their parents. This was aired on during assembly and was later aired on the school’s broadcast system. “Career Guidance Talk for Primary 6” given by parents.

Up coming events for PSG • 2011 January Breakfast with your Daughter. • Dates will be notified later. • Election of New PSG Committee - Term 1 or 2 • Date to be finalized when school reopens in January 2011 • Bake Sales will be held on: • Founder’s Day in May – Contributing Grades Primary 5& 6 • Sports Day August – Contributing Grades primary 3 & 4 • Children’s Day October – contributing Grades Primary 1&2.

  8. Children’s Day Montage • A letter will be sent out to parents to send in their messages to the PSG email address. • Tea with the Principal for Primary 1 & 2 will be held in term 3 • Dates to be posted in 2011 • Career Guidance Talk for Primary 6 • Parents who wish to contribute and share their experiencewith the P6 pupils could get in touch with Baba or Malaika.
