  3. State Flag In the flag I see a sun and two sail boats. I see on the top the world and on the world there is a eagle.

  4. State Nickname • The Empire State. New York is nicknamed the Empire State for its national and global significance. The orgin of the nickname is unknown –some sources credit George Washington, who referrd to New York state in December 1784 as “at present the seat of the Empire

  5. Statehood: New York was the 11th state on July 26th in 1788

  6. Places to Visit Empire State building New York’s famous Empire State building, an U.S. National historic landmark, soars more than a quarter of a mile into the atmosphere above the heart of Manhattan.

  7. Famous People Franklin D. Roosevelt, Millard Fillmore, Jonas Salk.
