  2. Grading Policy • Final Exam 20% • Chapter Tests 30% • Quizzes 15% • Labs/Projects 15% • Homework Completion 20% *Note: bonus points may be earned on tests and daily class assignments.

  3. Homework Policy: • Each night, homework will be assigned. The purpose of HW in Algebra is for the learner to identify the concepts and processes that they have not mastered. Most of this work must be done independently by the student! As the accuracy of the answers on homework assignments is not graded, there should be no concern with respect to grading implications. The most important aspects of the homework assignment are: • The completion of all assignments and • A preparedness to actively participate in the homework review session each and every morning. • These assignments will be kept in a homework folder until they are assessed by the teacher and returned to the students. The student should then put the assignment in the HW section of their 3-ring binder.

  4. Homework Content: May be done with assistance • Identify a real world example of where/how this mathematical concept/function is used. Write a word problem using your example. • Review for a quiz/test/exam as needed. To Be Done Independently • 5 – 10 problems • 2-5 word problems • Completion of the vocabulary notebook for the chapter section on which the homework is based.

  5. Homework Review: • Each class will begin with a 5 10 minute homework review • Answer guide and colored pencils. • Working in “study group” review homework for the accuracy the answers as well as processes. • With the help of the study group make any needed corrections in colored pencil. • Students will be selected at random to share their created word problem with the class. • All HW folders will be handed in for review. • These will be given back by the end of the day
