  2. Welcome Back  • Thank you for coming to today’s Parent’s meeting. I will be talking through the routines and expectations in Year 2. Although some of these will be very similar to Year 1 some things may vary slightly. So this meeting will help us to work together to ensure your child’s time in Year 2 is as fulfilling as it can be.

One for the morning at one for the afternoon. • If your child arrives after I have completed the register it will be classed as late and if they arrive after 9.30am they will receive an absent mark for the morning. • School finishes at 3.15pm. If you are going to be late please let the office know so they can inform us. • Appointments – please try to make any doctors, dentist and optician appointments outside of school time or as late in the school day as possible and letters must be produced.

  9. School Uniform • The school uniform has not changed since your child started St Edmund’s • We have a lovely, smart uniform so please make sure your child is in their full uniform each day. • No jeans or leggings • No hoodies or no uniform jumpers to be worn in class. • Please make sure shoes are sensible, with no heels and a full back. • If wellington boots are worn, please send in a change of shoes. • Suitable coat for outside play, we brave lots of weather!

  10. “Happy Birthday to you.......” Birthday’s are a very special time! We love to celebrate these in our own way in Year 2. It is very generous and kind for parent’s to bring in gifts for the other children but birthday cakes are not to be sent into school.

  11. Responsibility and Independence • From the very beginning of Year 2 we are preparing your child for KS2 . • I encourage independence and with the comes responsibility. • Your child is responsible for looking after their own things such as jumpers, coats and P.E kits and I will provide a safe place for them to be kept.

  12. Our classroom We are very lucky at St Edmund’s to have such fantastic classrooms bursting full with resources to help your child learn and grow to their full potential. We ask that children follow our GOLDEN RULES very carefully and most importantly treat others as they would like to be treated. • Praise is a bit part of daily life in Year 2, we shout good news from the roof tops and find that encouragement and support helps children. • As well as praise we do sometimes need to sanction children for not following the classroom rules. We have a structured routine to follow for this.

  13. A listening ear If you have a worry or concern please come and speak to me. A teaching assistant will be able to help you regarding monies but all other issues please come to me. When’s best? If you have a message or something which can be dealt with quickly this could be done in the morning but if it is something which needs discussing it would be best to wait until after school.
