CLUSTERIX: National Cluster of Linux Systems Gdańsk Szczecin Białystok Poznań Warszawa Zielona Góra Łódź Lublin Wrocław Częstochowa Opole Kraków • Distributed national infrastructure with 12 sites • 250+ Intel Itanium2 cpus in the core • An experimental installation includes 800+ Intel Itanium2 cpus with 4,5 TFLOPs of peak performance • Dedicated 1Gbps bandwidth provided by the Polish Optical Network PIONIER • The CLUSTERIX software developed as Open Source, and is based on the Globus Toolkit 2.4 plus web services

CLUSTERIX: National Cluster of Linux Systems • Production-class grid infrastructure • Basic infrastructure consists of local Linux clusters with 64-bit architecture connected by the Polish Optical Network PIONIER • Development of mechanisms and tools capable of management of a distributed cluster with dynamically changing configuration • Dynamic attachement of new local clusters with 32- and 64-bit architectures • Taking into consideration local policies of administration within independent domains • Development of grid middleware: • Data management • Resource management system with prediction, monitoring • Management of user accounts and virtual organizations • Network management, IPv6 • Integrated end-user/administrator interface • Checkpointing • Examples of applications: • Modeling transonic flows and design of advanced tip devices • FEM modeling of castings solidification • Prediction of protein structures and simulation of protein folding • Investigation of properties of bio-molecular systems for drug design • Large-scale simulations of blood circulation in micro-capillaries • Astrophysical simulations
