Federalism: Diversity of States - Cultural Sovereignity • Most of responsibilities regarding Education are taken by the 16 states: 16 Educational Laws • Each state is free to establish its own Education system: Differences in the Design of School Systems • The states are harmonizing their Education systems by a continuing conference of ministers • School-leaving certificates are recognized by all states if preconditions are fulfilled: Standardized testing requirements but not the same exams

The Bavarian State Institute for School Quality and Educational Research (ISB)- Location in the education system - Bavarian State Ministry for Education and Cultural Affairs ALP in-service teacher training centre: responsible for the training of all teachers and executive staff members in Bavaria S c h o o l s

New pathways in teacher training: • from print media to e-learning platforms Moodle is a Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). It is a free web application that educators can use to create effective online learning sites. In Bavaria it is used between the multipliers and the teachers.

New pathways in teacher training: • from print media to e-learning platforms ALP: eSessions Live-Lecture (45-60 min.) with a WebConferencing-Software: To join, the participant needs a computer with headset and a web-acess. An expert explains and shows the contents. The participants can write questions, which are answerd at the end of the session. Used e.g. for introducing new computer programms.
