Rail Operators‘ Group (1) • Background • F-Man Cargo operators: FS, CP, SZ. • Their responsibilities: • - to define their needs for a F-Man tool set • - to care for the OBT-installation • - to test the F-Man prototype in real European operation, and • - to evaluate the results vs their pre-defined needs • Idea of the consortium: to enlarge the validation platform for the • F-Man Products • Software modules (operating in an open, stand alone mode) • - Functional requirements for a fleet management • - The relevant Event Messages Package (EMP) • - The Data Processing and Distribution (DPD)-module • - The ETA-module • - The F-Man Pool (FMP) module • - The Status Oriented Maintenance (SOM)-module • - The Decision Support (DSUP)-module • Hardware area: • - Power management and • - Wagon status sensors

Rail Operators‘ Group (2) • Role of the RUG • 3.1 Generally • - ensure acceptance in the rail cargo world • - assist the project in the validation process • 3.2 F-Man and UIC • - Demonstration to UIC • the openess, • the importance of the project and • the “pay back-effects“ of a participation • - Assisting UIC in defining / preparing standards: • the interface: OBT messages / national wagon management software • ETA messages ( interface between Infrastructure Managers and operators) • Internet access to a wagon pool management • An UIC-Leaflet on Status Oriented Maintenace • 3.3 Problems • - Providing F-Man infos (Deliverables etc.) to the group • - Fleet Management: a competitive issue!! • - Wagon management software: Legacy systems........!
