Close Reading • Left margins: summarize- tell what is being stated in the passage (should not be more than two sentences) • Right margins: annotate the text- focus on the following idea: • Literary devices (foreshadowing, figurative language, mood, tone, allusion, etc.) • Identify all the examples of the theme “When passion overrules reason, tragedy often follow” you can find, and put a box around them.
