Key Dates • 1880’s -1890’s=claimed by France • 1920=colony of French Equatorial Africa founded • 1960=became independent/Sara dominated government took over • 1966=National Liberation Front of Chad (Frolinat) founded • 1966=civil war between Sara and Frolinat • 5 national holidays: New Year’s Day, Labor Day, Independence Day, Republic Day, and President Deby Day
