  1. Quality Assurance in schools State Secondary Schools have school autonomy They can ask for external Quality Assurance Certificate for some topics orfor the school, also to apply for regional and European funds. We have a Quality Assurance System in all regional VET schools. To maintain external certification and accreditation you have to ask for a visit of external experts every year

Topics related to the prevention of early school leaving in the schools’ Annual Plan • Guidance and counseling for pupils • Collaboration with the Psychological Service • Collaboration with the City Hall in case of economic and social hardship, low attendance… • Collaboration with the Health System for the prevention of drugs and alcoholism addiction, bullying… • Social services of the Town Halls ensure basic services for health, food, housing,incase of family distress. • Youth Information and Job Centers try to prevent failure and to offer counseling and job opportunities

Adaptation of Quality Assurance Certification system • You have to adapt the system: • To the law on compulsory Education, on the school reforms, on the new State Exams… • To the law on alternating school attendance and work, • To the results of the research through invitations to courses and training sessions (not mandatory) • The changes in schools, for example collaboration with other schools for update networks, continuity, re-orientation,

Skilledspecialists and resources • The Quality Assurance System involves the presence of skilled specialists to prevent the early school leaving and human, structural and financial resourcesin schools • In Italy, from 1999 to 2003 the early school leaving was decreasing.. Since 2008 we have had hard cuts of human and economic resources. In 2010, the average of the early school leavers was of 18%. Now the 40% of the young people are “Neets” • Certification versus self-assessment. CEDEFOP made a guide for self-assessment in the technical and vocational schools. The two paths can be both followed in the same school, even contemporary. • In the regional schools we can find the presence of many procedures to prevent early school leaving in the Quality Assurance System.We’ll give some examples from the Quality System of ClusaneVET School
